About RobFather X

My name is RobFather X. I am a free-thinking person; one whose expressions on the 'Real Time' blog (among other things) are based simply on my perception, knowledge, and understanding of the realities of life as I see them.

My Position on “Anti-Vaxxers”

Over the last ten years or so, I’ve grown quite annoyed with all the rhetoric, beliefs, and senseless fears of “anti-vaxxer” people; especially when those people base their reasons, fears of vaccines/vaccinations, and/or rhetoric against vaccinations and immunizations on some religious belief or faith.

Anti-Vaccine MovementI want readers to note that I neither care to argue or debate nor will I argue or debate the vaccination/immunization versus anti-vaccination/anti-immunizations issue on this blog nor on social media. (I simply despise debating certain issues in non-verbal and non-visual environments; preferring to hold certain debates face-to-face.) Now, like each of the persons situated in the pro- vaccination/immunization camp and in the anti-vaccination/anti-immunization camp, I too, have a position – albeit unpopular, on parents who are against vaccinations/immunizations and who absolutely refuse to vaccinate/immunize their kids.

Before stating that position I must preface with this:

  • I was duly vaccinated/immunized as an infant and during several periods of my childhood. I was duly vaccinated/immunized for certain diseases or viruses during my teen years. I received either a vaccination or a booster shot vaccination several times during my twenty-year career in the U.S. Navy – especially receiving certain vaccinations/immunizations or vaccine booster shots before traveling to foreign countries (like the Somalia, India, the Philippines, and Arabic countries) during my two decades of military service. And every year since my retirement from the military twenty years ago, I get a free anti-flu vaccination at the local Veterans Affairs Medical Center. I have also been vaccinated/immunized against Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B, and have been tested for Hepatitis C (for which, as of this writing, there is no vaccine or immunization). I’ve been a reasonably psychologically and physically healthy person all my life – meaning, none of the vaccines that either once coursed or which now course through my bloodstream, have had any adverse or negative affect.
  • I am a parent of twenty-three years as of this writing. My son’s mother and I had our child duly vaccinated/immunized whenever his age – per the medical schedule, called for a certain vaccination/immunization. None of the vaccines nor any of the vaccine booster shots our son obtained during the years of his infancy, as a toddler, as a young child, as a teen-ager, and none of the vaccines or booster shots that he received when he joined the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves, have had any adverse or negative affect on his mind or body. In short, my son is a very healthy, strong, emotionally intact, and very intelligent individual today. I couldn’t be more happy or proud.

Now, here’s my position the anti-vaccination/anti-immunization issue:

I am not, nor have I ever been against vaccinations/immunizations. Having said that, I hope the kids of anti-vaccination/anti-immunization parents – if ever infected with a contagious disease or carrying a virus which could have been prevented had those kids been duly vaccinated/immunized, die and do so long before they are able to come in contact with or be in or near the presence of non-infected kids and adults and/or previously-infected kids and adults. I realize that sounds cruel but sometimes the health and lives of the many far and most justifiably outweigh the health and lives of a few. Depending on the virus, any contact with an infected/contagious person, and/or being in the presence of an infected/contagious person, or occupying an area or space once held by an infected/contagious person, could directly endanger or possibly endanger non-infected and/or previously-infected (and supposedly now-immune) kids and/or adults.

I feel that a medically protected or vaccinated/immunized civilized society simply cannot afford to play Russian roulette with the health nor with the lives of otherwise [generally] healthy children and adults with regard to unvaccinated/non-immunized children and/or adults who may carry or who may be subject to being infected and carrying some contagious disease or virus.

Going Home (to a funeral)

rfx-2 (03nov2018)_rzThe financial sacrifice in my choice to stay at a hotel instead of a relative’s home when I go home to Philadelphia (to attend my mother’s funeral) is well worth the cost. It means I don’t have to [continuously] contend with any family drama. And oh, how I abhor drama (i.e., bickering, backbiting, et al) of any kind; most especially that of family, and particularly the kind of family drama which often is created and lingers whenever a beloved family matriarch (like my mom) or patriarch transitions! I’ve experienced that sort of thing some twenty years ago when the matriarch of my [then] in-laws transitioned. I remember promising myself to never again put or keep myself in, near, or around such a fugly environment! (Some of you reading this can relate.)

My mind is now and will continue to be at peace during my stay in Philly, knowing that I can always return to the peaceful sanctity – and privacy – of my hotel room each night until I return to my home in Saginaw.

Happy New Year!

I have never tried nor wanted to grab anyone “by the pussy” (simply isn’t my style nor my character) but I have often tried and sometimes even succeeded, to do what this meme says. LOLBVS!
Carpe ScrotumHere’s to 12 months, 52, weeks, and 365 more days towards making that attempt once again.

Trump and the 12 Days of Xmas (2018)

As Donald J. Trump sits “all alone in the White House” during what is now the THIRD (3rd) U.S. federal government shutdown this year (2018) under his administration, perhaps those of us who truly despise the man should imagine him singing the tune to the [238 year-old] song, “The Twelve Days of Christmas” as depicted in this cartoon meme I found in my Facebook newsfeed:

As We Approach Election Day…

Regardless of your political views, participating in the voting process in any election period is and always should be considered important and serious business. We need to take voting and the voting process personally because the results of an election may on some personal level, affect each of us either directly or indirectly.

It has never been my style as a member of the electorate and certainly not as a non-candidate for political office, to ever tell other members of the electorate/other non-candidates whom or what to vote for or against. (I simply think that sort of thing is tacky.) However, there can be negative consequences when one either refuses or does not exercise his or her given right or privilege to vote. Voting in an election – which is a very simple yet silent exercise of free speech, is one of the American freedoms which no eligible and registered-to-vote citizen of the United States ever ought to take for granted.

With all of us having been bombarded with a shitload of political ads over the past six months or so (with many of them consisting of downright deceptions, lies, half-truths or exaggerations), I don’t see anything wrong with posting a little lite humor as Election Day 2018 approaches. This photo/meme I found on the web gave me a chuckle. I thought it reflected one humorous example – although a bit biased, of the negative consequences of not voting.

MEME_Humor (voting)I’m sure you already know and perhaps may have experienced a number of others.

Unless you’ve already voted early or voted absentee, I hope to see you at the polls Tuesday, November 6, 2018.
